Business angel and mentor for grown-up founders.

Intro

It is widely believed that startup founders have to be young, not yet influenced by the business environment, thus able to come up with fresh ideas and to realise them.

Nevertheless, research shows that the average age of a successful startup founder is 45 (HBR).

Reasons

Why is that? Successful founders meet these three criteria (Forbes).

  1. They know their domain.
Previous jobs in the industry allowed them to gain knowledge and experience.

  2. They have been successful at their jobs.
Professional success at jobs raises the bar in how they define entrepreneurial success. Maybe they did not follow a steep career path, but they excelled in their domain.

  3. They are intrinsically motivated.
The most successful creators are not motivated by making money or gaining external rewards. They are genuinely interested in solving a problem.

About me

I have over 30 years of professional experience – from helping in my parents' company as a teenager, to self-employment as an interpreter during my studies, to a small trading company afterwards, to more than 10 years of experience in an automotive corporation, and to 3 years at a university institute, before starting an own business again as a management consultant and interim manager.

My primary domain is brand management and marketing, often at the crossroads with IT (e.g., MarTech). My experience and interest also includes innovation, agile management, and even seemingly boring accounting.
